Love Where You Live, San Antonio: Oct 29, 2026

A free weekly email from Betsy and Roy: the best of the San Antonio weekend, every Thursday morning.

Marigolds, music and an extra hour of sleep

Halloween lands on Saturday, Día de los Muertos starts Sunday, and the clocks fall back overnight. Market Square fills with altars and music, Pearl lights up with ofrendas, and the River Walk has alebrijes tucked along the water. Local spotlight: Floore's Country Store

Our office is on Old Bandera Road, and just up the road is Floore's Country Store, 14492 Old Bandera Road in Helotes. It's a live music hall, a dance floor and the home of Reese Bros BBQ, all in one spot. If you've never been, the free Sunday Dine and Dance is the easiest way in. See Floore's shows

Fall back Sunday at 2 a.m.

Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov 1. At 2 a.m. the clocks go back to 1 a.m., so Saturday night comes with a bonus hour. Your phone handles itself. Before bed, set the clocks it can't reach: the oven, the microwave and the car.

Mark your calendar: Wurstfest turns 65

Wurstfest runs Nov 6 to 15 in Landa Park, New Braunfels. Kids 12 and under get in free every day, and Monday to Thursday (Nov 9 to 12) admission is free for everyone, with gates opening at 5 p.m. Weekend tickets cost $5 less online than at the gate. Plan your visit

When the move isn't on your schedule

Not every move gets planned. PCS orders show up, a job changes, a family situation shifts, and suddenly you need to sell on someone else's timeline. Sometimes another agent has already told you that you can't sell because you owe more than the home is worth.

That's usually where we start, not where it ends. Roy and I have spent 26 years working short sales, property management, investing and new construction, so we look at every option that's actually on the table: selling, renting it out, a short sale, or timing the sale around your report date. I'll tell you plainly what fits your situation and what doesn't. Talk with Betsy
